Fair Claims HandlingThe John Adams Way
Just as John Adams defended British soldiers after the Boston Massacre—believing that even the unpopular deserve fair representation—we are committed to handling all claims with impartiality, evidence, and due process.
"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."
Accountability Without Injustice
The John Adams Inquirer was founded on the belief that judicial transparency is essential to a functioning democracy. However, we also recognize that the power to expose can be the power to destroy—and with that power comes profound responsibility.
In 1770, John Adams took on the unpopular defense of British soldiers accused in the Boston Massacre. He did so not because he supported the British, but because he believed that every person deserves a fair hearing based on facts, not passion. His commitment to justice over popularity is the foundation of our approach.
We hold judges and court officials accountable—but we do so fairly. We investigate thoroughly, we give subjects the opportunity to respond, and we distinguish between verified facts and unproven allegations. This is not weakness; it is the strength of principled journalism.
How We Handle Every Claim
These six principles guide every investigation, every rating, and every publication.
Every individual—whether judge, clerk, or attorney—is presumed to be acting in good faith until evidence suggests otherwise. We do not prejudge based on allegations alone.
Before publishing any complaint or negative assessment, we provide the subject an opportunity to respond. Their perspective is included alongside any criticism.
Our trust scores and ratings are based on publicly available data, documented methodologies, and verifiable sources. We show our work.
We distinguish between verified facts, documented allegations, and public opinion. Each claim is labeled accordingly so readers can make informed judgments.
We actively prevent our platform from being used for harassment, defamation, or bad-faith attacks. Frivolous or malicious complaints are rejected.
We recognize that judges and court staff are human. We seek accountability, not destruction. Our goal is improvement, not punishment.
